Dokuz Eylül University Journal of Humanities aims to publish theoretical and/or applied articles that make original contributions in the field of social sciences within the framework of scientific ethics. Based on this purpose, research articles conducted in line with the ethical principles of our masthead about the journal are accepted. One of the other objectives of the journal is to support the development of social science studies in Turkey and to encourage the qualified social science studies in accordance with the modern science principles. The journal also aims to introduce various current issues that will attract attention from all areas of social sciences and will be of interest to a wide readership and to create a discussion environment on these issues.
The journal accepts theoretical and/or applied research conducted in linguistics, translation studies, psychology, sociology, history, philosophy, archeology, museology, international relations, gender studies, philology and other related fields within the scope of social sciences.

The articles to be submitted to the Dokuz Eylül University Journal of Humanities shall be prepared in accordance with the APA 7th edition.
Dokuz Eylül University Journal of Humanities attributes a great importance to the compliance with the standards of publication ethics and the publication ethics in terms of the development of scientific knowledge. The ethical duties and responsibilities below have been prepared in consideration of the guidelines and policies published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) (Guidelines for Journal Editors). In this respect, the liabilities of the publisher and the franchisee, editorial board, editors, authors and referees against possible abuse during the publishing process are explained in detail in the Publication Ethics Principles.
THE EDITORIAL BOARD
• The Editorial Board of Dokuz Eylul University Journal of Humanities meets at least twice a year.
• The members of the Editorial Board accept the principles of publication ethics and policy of Dokuz Eylul University Journal of Journal of Humanities and evaluate the decisions about this principles and policies.
• The members of the Editorial Board give suggestions for improving the recognition of the Journal.
• In cases of suspected breaches of publication ethics such as misconduct, plagiarism, conflict of interest and copyright infringement, the members of the Editorial Board inform the editorial team of the Journal in order to clarify the issue.
• The members of the Editorial Board give suggestions for the indexing databases that the Journal can be included in order to improve the academic quality.
EDITOR
• Editors hold full responsibility and authority to accept or reject an article.
• Editors must avoid situations of conflict of interest related to the articles they have accepted or rejected.
• Editors act with the responsibility of being the contact person between the author and the referee.
• If two referees deliver different opinions about the article being evaluated, editors should consult to the field editor’s evaluation. Each study is depended on the editorial decision based on the objective evaluation.
• If editors are in a conflict of interest with the articles they are evaluating or they are in relation that may constitute a conflict of interest, they should withdraw from their editorial duty for the article in question.
• If editors detect an error in the published article and this error invalidates the study or its important parts, it includes plagiarism, or it is not ethical, editors withdraw the article in question.
• Editors should keep the names of reviewers’ hidden and prevent plagiarism/fake data.
AUTHOR
• Authors have academic, ethical and social responsibilities.
• Authors are obliged to send the original (previously unpublished) works to the journal and to follow the editorial guideline indicated on the website of the journal.
• Authors are responsible for avoiding ethical violations such as plagiarism, exploitation of labor, inaccurate reference, forgetting to reference. In the opposite case, the article is rejected.
• If authors receive funding for their study/research, they should indicate the source in the article.
• If there are more than one author contributing to the study, the name order they have submitted while applying should be a co-decision.
• If authors detect any error or mistake in their published article, they should immediately inform editors so that proper actions can be taken.
• Authors cannot publish the same article in more than one journal, partly or completely, without any justification, permission or cross-reference.
• In case of studies conducted with alive participants that require ethics committee approval, authors are obliged to get institutional ethics committee approval.
• Authors should make an explicit notice which explains that all necessary permissions have been obtained from human subjects and the rights of the participants have been protected.
• Authors can only withdraw their articles during the pre-evaluation process.
REFEREE
• Referees comply with the double-blind referee evaluation process and fulfill the requirements of this process.
• Referees should give a positive or negative reply within the time period indicated in the system when they are offered.
• Referees should express clearly if they don’t have expertise on the subject of the study or they can evaluate just some part of it.
• Referees should explain to editors any conflict of interest that may cause partiality in their opinions about the article and if this is the case, they should refrain from evaluating the article.
• If referees detect an error in the published article and this error invalidates the study or its important parts, in case it includes plagiarism or it is not ethical, they are responsible for informing editors about it.
• Referees should reject the evaluation offer if there is a study that is very similar to the one they are working on or in the evaluation process.
• Referees should keep preserving the confidentiality of the study and the evaluation process.
COPE's (Committee of Publication Ethics) principles of publication ethics will be the reference guide for the ethical problems that may occur except for the given circumstances above.
Detecting Plagiarism
• Ethical violations such as plagiarism, exploitation of labor are deemed as unacceptable by Dokuz Eylul University Journal of Journal of Humanities and it is primarily the author(s)’ responsibility not to include such violations in the submitted articles.
• All articles submitted to the Journal are analyzed by utilizing iThenticate program and similarity report is taken before the evaluation process.
Open Access
• Dokuz Eylul University Journal of Journal of Humanities uses open access model. Studies accepted for publication in the Journal are accessible via open access on the web site of the journal.
• No fee or expense is demanded for the studies to be published in the web page of the Journal.
Copyright and Access
• Authors accept that they transfer the copyright of the published articles to Dokuz Eylul University Journal of Journal of Humanities.
• It is author’s responsibility to get permission from necessary people or institutions for the supportive material to be included in the article such as pictures, figures and etc.
